Whisper it, but the Cayman GTS could well be a more focused sports car than the mighty 911… And when the highly respect Autocar magazine reviewed it at launch, its testers concluded that the mid-engine Porsche was ‘probably the best new sports car of 2014.’

If you’re serious about high performance driving then this extremely low mileage, Rhodium silver Cayman GTS is the machine for you. Powered by a 340bhp 3.4-litre flat-six engine, the compact sports car muscles from standstill to 60mph in 4.8 seconds, and if you happen to find an empty stretch of autobahn, it will top out at 175mph.

When creating the Cayman GTS, Porsche’s enthusiastic development team blessed it with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the Sports Chrono Package, which in this instance includes Dynamic Engine Mounts; Sports Chrono also has ‘Sport’ and ‘Sport Plus’ settings which sharpen up the throttle response, the suspension settings, and the speed at which the PDK paddleshift gearbox snaps through the gear-changes.

Debate rages about whether a hardcore sports car should have an automatic gearbox. Frankly, we’re huge fans of Porsche’s PDK setup: it works brilliantly and changes gear quicker than any human can. Even in full automatic mode Porsche’s gear-shift strategy makes you feel like a racing driver – and let’s not forget, no modern race car is manual these days – and on those occasions when you want full control, you can use the paddles.

This particular example has black leather upholstery, Alcantara roof lining, hands-free mobile phone preparation, and bi-Xenon headlights.

We’ll leave the final word to Autocar magazine: ‘Should you buy one? Almost unreservedly yes.’

Here at Prindiville we have been supplying high-end vehicles to discerning clients for more than 15 years. We are one of the very few dealers to operate out of central London and sell to customers worldwide. Viewings are strictly by appointment only to enable us to give you the time and attention you deserve.
